Mr. Aznan Abdul Aziz
Assistant Governor, BNM
Aznan Abdul Aziz is the Assistant Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia who is responsible for the Payments Services Oversight, Financial Conglomerates Supervision, Banking Supervision, Insurance and Takaful Supervision, as well as Risk Specialist and Technology Supervision Departments. Prior to his appointment as the Assistant Governor, he served in several departments, including Financial Conglomerates Supervision, Governor's Office, Islamic Banking and Takaful, Financial Sector Development, Financial Intelligence Unit, Financial Surveillance and Bank Regulation Departments. He was previously the Chairman of the Financial Technology Enabler Group that was responsible for developing strategies and regulatory policies to facilitate the use of technology in financial services. Previously he was also the Assistant General Manager of Danamodal Nasional Berhad, the special purpose vehicle established to recapitalise distressed financial institutions during the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis.
Mr. Qaiser Iskandar Anwarudin
Director, Payment Services Policy Department, BNM
Qaiser heads the Payment Services Policy Department in Bank Negara Malaysia. The department is responsible for the regulatory framework to drive the development of the payments industry as well as to preserve payment system stability as part of the central bank's mandate.
Current areas of focus for the department include regulations surrounding the large-value payment system, retail payment players and the money services business industry as well as strategic initiatives to support the central bank's e-payment agenda and on cross-border payments. The department also houses the Digital Currency Research Hub, which anchors the Bank's work on digital assets and central bank digital currencies.
Prior to this, Qaiser headed the Financial Surveillance Department, which undertakes macro-prudential surveillance of emerging trends and vulnerabilities in the financial system and formulates appropriate policy measures to preserve domestic financial stability. He also spent a notable part of his career in the Bank in the area of micro-prudential policy. Qaiser joined Bank Negara Malaysia in 1999, and between 2012 and 2015, served as a Senior Financial Sector Specialist with the Financial Stability Institute of the Bank for International Settlements.
Ms. Kalyani Nair

Kalyani Nair is the Group Chief Digital Officer for Maybank. Her focus is to help create more value for customers via new digital offerings and payment methods. Instrumental in driving new business opportunities, her role is to create and transform the digital platforms into an engine of growth for Maybank Group. Pushing the boundaries of innovation to solve customers' pain points is what she enjoys working on with her team.
Mr. Farhan Ahmad
Chief Executive Officer, Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet)
Mr. Farhan Ahmad is the Group Chief Executive Officer of Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd ('PayNet'). He joined PayNet in April 2022, bringing with him over 25 years of financial services experience as an entrepreneur and senior executive in the US and UK.
As an entrepreneur, Mr. Ahmad most recently founded Bento for Business, a B2B financial operating platform for SMEs that he successfully grew and sold to US Bank, the fifth largest retail bank in the US. Prior to Bento, he founded two other successful start-ups, pioneered several 'first of its kind' payment solutions, including the very first online Buy Now Pay Later solution, and holds several patents in the payments space.
As an executive, Mr. Ahmad most recently ran Digital Card Payments for Europe for Barclays. In the past, he held various leadership roles with Discover Financial Services, JP Morgan Chase, Bank One, and FirstUSA.
An International Baccalaureate scholar, he has a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and is an Official Member of Forbes Finance Council since June 2019.
Mr. Ni Xiang, Alan
Chief Executive Officer, TNG Digital Sdn Bhd
Alan Ni was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer for TNG Digital in April 2022. In August 2018, he was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer for TNG Digital Sdn Bhd. He is an experienced professional who brings over 20 years of experience in consumer & commercial finance and risk & fraud management, with the last 15 years at senior leadership capacity. He has diversified international working experience in USA, Korea, Thailand, China, Indonesia and Malaysia.
Prior to his role in TNG Digital, Alan was Senior Managing Director, Group Head of Retail Risk, CIMB, where he oversaw overall retail risk management for CIMB Group. Prior to that, he was Head of Country Credit at Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia, managing risk & fraud, as well as credit operation (underwriting, collection) for consumer banking, private banking and SMEs. Alan also has hands-on experience in growing market share and volume as Chief Marketing Officer at GE Capital, Indonesia. Alan carries in-depth portfolio management experience for multiple products, including personal loans, commercial leasing, credit cards, mortgage and insurance. His specialities include excellent risk technical expertise in reserving, loss forecasting & stress testing, segmentation, modelling & analytics, scoring, collection and risk infrastructure & technology.
Mr. Fraziali Ismail
Assistant Governor, BNM
Mr. Fraziali is currently an Assistant Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia overseeing the economics, monetary policy, international, statistics and communications departments. He has 28 years of central banking experience, having served in the economics and monetary policy departments, as well as overseeing areas of financial surveillance, prudential regulations, consumer and market conduct and money services business regulations. He holds a Master's degree in economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of Bristol.
Dr. Matthew Dornan
Senior Economist, The World Bank
Matthew Dornan is a Senior Economist with the World Bank's Malaysia Office, and is part of the World Bank's Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice. He works on social protection, skills and labour market policy, migration and labour mobility, and on ageing. Matthew's previous assignment was in Papua New Guinea and in various Pacific island countries, where he established and implemented projects supporting cash transfer programs, TVET and skills development, social protection responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, and labour mobility. Matthew was previously the Deputy Director of the Development Policy Centre at the Australian National University, and prior to that, he worked for the Australian Government. He has a PhD in economics from the Australian National University.
Ms. Hawati Abdul Hamid
Deputy Director, Khazanah Research Institute
Ms. Hawati is the Deputy Director of Research at Khazanah Research Institute (KRI), a think tank based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. At the Institute, she works on the pressing issues of the nation and advocacy policies to improve the well-being of Malaysians based on that research. Among the areas she focuses on include poverty, inequality, social mobility, social protection and labour market policies.
Ms. Hawati studied International Development Studies at the Graduate Institute for Policy Studies in Tokyo, Japan and obtained her bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Kent, UK.
Dato’ Dr. Hartini Zainudin
Founder of Yayasan Chow Kit
Dato' Dr. Hartini is a child activist in Malaysia. She works as a consultant for various local humanitarian organisations as their fundraising and resource mobilisation consultant and strategist. She was also South-East Asia's focal person for the United Nation's Relief Work Agency (UNRWA), working on the plight of Palestinian refugees and had previously worked for the Asia School of Business, as well as UNICEF, Malaysia. She conducted fundraising training with UNHCR Global too. Prior to these two positions, she was the CEO of Yayasan Siti Sapura Husin for three years.
She is the co-founder of Yayasan Chow Kit (formerly known as NurSalam). She is also the Vice President of Voice of the Children (founded in 2008), a local NGO that does advocacy work, law and policy reforms and training on children's issues.
Dato' Dr. Hartini has been a member of the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development's National Advisory Council on the Welfare and Protection of Children and is a member of a few national task forces- Child Protection Policy Training, Child Trafficking, Stateless Children, Alternative to Detention of Children and the review of the Malaysian Adoption System. She did training here in Malaysia for the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agency on the issue of baby selling and child trafficking. She currently sits as a council member of the National Recovery Council, looking into food security and child protection issues within marginalised communities in Malaysia.
Dr. Norhana Endut

Dr Norhana is the Assistant Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia responsible for the Regulation Sector, including areas of Financial Surveillance, Prudential Financial Policy, Payment Services Policy, Consumer and Market Conduct as well as Sustainability. Dr Norhana is a member of the Bank's Monetary Policy Committee, Financial Stability Committee, Management Committee and Reserve Management Committee.
Dr Norhana received her PhD in Monetary Economics and Econometrics from the Washington University in St. Louis, USA and a BSc. (Hons) in Economics from Warwick University, UK.
Ms. Madelena Mohamed
Director of Sustainability Unit, BNM
Madelena Mohamed is currently the head of the Sustainability Unit at Bank Negara Malaysia, overseeing the Bank's climate change agenda. She also co-chairs the NGFS Task Force on Capacity Building and Training.
She has over 25 years of experience in financial stability issues and played a key role in various committees and initiatives, including the Financial Sector Assessment Programme for Malaysia and the formulation of resolution strategies during the Asian financial crisis. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and holds an Economics degree from the London School of Economics.
Datuk Koong Lin Loong

Datuk Koong is the CEO of K-Konsult Sdn. Bhd. and Managing Partner of Reanda LLKG International. He is a Practising Auditor of Malaysia, a Licensed Tax Agent of Malaysia and a Qualified Malaysia GST Compliance Assurance Programme (MyGCAP) Reviewer.
Datuk Koong has been actively involved in various commerce and community services. He is currently the Board Member cum Chairman of the Audit Committee of SME Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp.), the Board Member of Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK), Board Member of the Small Debt Resolution Committee (SDRC), and Board Member of Franchise Advisory Committee. He holds professional membership of ASEAN Chartered Professional Accountant (ASEAN CPA), Chartered Accountant, Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), and Associate Member, The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of UK (CIMA).
Ms. Luanne Sieh
Head of Group Sustainability, CIMB
Ms. Luanne is the head of CIMB Group Sustainability. She is responsible for transforming CIMB into a shaper of sustainable finance and responsible banking practices in Asia. She is also the Working Group Chair of the CEO Action Network Malaysia and a member of the Expert Advisory Group of the Voluntary Carbon Markets Initiative.
Ms. Luanne holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, as well as a Master of Arts from the University of Cambridge, and she has recently completed a Master of Liberal Arts in Sustainability at the University of Harvard Extension School.
Datuk Ir. Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan
Chief Strategy & Ventures Officer, Tenaga Nasional Berhad
As the Chief Strategy & Ventures Officer, Datuk Ir. Megat leads the development and implementation of TNB's corporate and business strategy, incorporating Energy Transition trends and Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda. His responsibility includes searching for identifying and evaluating new business in the energy industry and its adjacency. In addition, he guides and promotes innovation, research and development in fields relevant to TNB's current and prospective business. Previously, Datuk Ir. Megat successfully delivered quality digital customer service experience and growth of TNB's Retail business as the Chief Retail Officer of TNB for four years. Prior to that position, he served as the Chief Strategy Officer of TNB for six years.
Mr. Firdaos Rosli
Chief Economist, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad
Mr. Firdaos joined Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad as Chief Economist on 1 September 2022. Previously, he was the Chief Economist at MARC Ratings Berhad. Prior to MARC Ratings, he spent almost ten years in the Institute of Strategic & International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia, a research organisation, in various roles - from Senior Analyst (Economics) to Director of Economics, Trade and Regional Integration. During his time with ISIS Malaysia, he served as a short-term external consultant to the World Bank and was a former EXCO member of the Malaysia-Japan Economic Association.
From 2005 to 2010, Mr. Firdaos served with the Malaysian government as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer under the purview of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), where he worked on policies concerning bilateral and regional trade relations, Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and industrial development. He also served in the Minister's Office as the Senior Private Secretary to MITI's Deputy Minister from 2008 to 2010.
Mr. Firdaos completed his Master of Public Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) as a 2019/2020 Chevening scholar. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance degree from Lancaster University, UK, a Diploma in Public Administration from the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN), Malaysia and a Business Foundation Programme from St. Andrew's College in Cambridge, UK.
Professor Özer Karagedikli
Professor of Practice and Director of Central Banking Research Centre at the Asia School of Business
Professor Özer is a Professor of Practice and Director of the Central Banking Research Centre at the Asia School of Business (ASB) in collaboration with MIT Sloan. He joined ASB in January 2022 after three years with the Southeast Asian Central Banks Research and Training (SEACEN) Centre in Kuala Lumpur. Prior to moving to Malaysia, he had been a central banker for 17 years. He worked as an economic adviser in research, modelling, and forecasting teams of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ), as well as a stint at the Bank of England's International Economic Analysis Division. He completed his studies at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, and his research interests are in macroeconomics, monetary economics, forecasting, international linkages, housing, and labour markets. His latest work includes forecast combinations for asymmetrically distributed variables, the effects of different types of forward guidance, housing supply and population growth, the role of job-to-job transitions and wage growth, and the role of machine learning in central banks. Professor Özer is also a Short-Term Expert for the IMF Technical Assistance Missions to central banks.
Ms. Nurul Izza Idris
Director, Islamic Finance Department, BNM
Ms. Nurul Izza is one of the key people driving the development of the BNM Exposure Draft on the Licensing and Regulatory Framework for Digital Insurers and Takaful Operators ("DITO") issued in November 2022 and was also instrumental in the legal infrastructure development of the Islamic Financial Services Act 2013. She has nearly 15 years of experience, serving BNM in various roles relating to financial sector development, prudential policy formulation and governance.
Datuk Shaik Abdul Rasheed Abdul Ghaffour
Deputy Governor, BNM
Datuk Abdul Rasheed is the Deputy Governor, Bank Negara Malaysia and is responsible for the overall development of the Malaysian financial sector, which includes the banking, insurance and payments development functions, as well as Islamic banking and takaful development. He also oversees the Bank's Monetary and Economics Sector, which includes the international relations and statistical services. He is a member of the Monetary Policy Committee, the Management Committee, Financial Stability Executive Committee, the Reserve Management Committee and the Risk Management Committee of the Bank.
Prior to his appointment as Deputy Governor, he was the Assistant Governor for the Bank's Monetary and Economics Sector. He was on secondment as the Alternate Executive Director for Malaysia on the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund, in Washington DC. He started his career in the Bank Regulation Department of Bank Negara Malaysia and during his career in the Bank that spans over 20 years, he has been involved in key areas of central banking, including policy formulation in financial sector development, financial surveillance and prudential policies for the banking and insurance sector.
Datuk Abdul Rasheed has an honours degree in Economics from the University of Malaya and Master of Business Administration from University of Oxford.
Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar
Chairman of the MIFC Leadership Council
Tan Sri Azman is currently the Chairman of Lembaga Tabung Haji, the Chairman of INCEIF University, the Chairman of the Leadership Council of the Malaysian International Islamic Financial Centre, the Chairman of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and the Chairman of the MIFC (Malaysia International Islamic Finance Centre) Leadership Council. From 2004 to 2018, he was the Managing Director of Khazanah Nasional Berhad and was among others, the Founding Chairman or Director of various portfolio companies including Axiata Berhad, Iskandar Investment Berhad, Yayasan Hasanah and Khazanah Research Institute.
His current and recent affiliations include being a member of the Global Future Council for Investing of the World Economic Forum (Davos), the Steering Committee of the Global Ethical Finance Initiative, Edinburgh, the National Recovery Council for COVID-19 in Malaysia, and the Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Centre of Development Studies, University of Cambridge (2019-2021).
Prof. Dr Ashraf Md Hashim
Chairman, Shariah Advisory Council of BNM
Prof. Dr. Ashraf is the Executive Director, International Shariah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA RMC) and Deputy President of Research at the International Centre of Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF University).
Dr. Ashraf currently serves as the Chairman of the Central Bank of Malaysia's Shariah Advisory Council (SAC BNM) and a member of the Shariah Advisory Council Securities Commission of Malaysia (SAC SC). He is also a member of the Shariah Committee for International Islamic Liquidity Management Cooperation (IILM) and the Chairman of Shariah Committee of Bursa Malaysia. In addition, he also serves as a member of National Fatwa Council of Malaysia, a Shariah committee member of the Malaysia Waqf Foundation, a member of the State Economic Development Cooperation of Kelantan, a committee member of the Waqf Committee for the Kelantan Religious Council, and a member of the Finance and Investment Committee member for the Selangor Religious Council. He is currently the President of the Association of Shariah Advisers in Islamic Finance (ASAS).
Mr. Mohd Muazzam Mohamed
President, Association of Islamic Banking ∓ Financial Institutions of Malaysia (AIBIM)
Mr. Muazzam is the Group Chief Executive Officer of Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad. He joined Bank Islam on 11 May 2015 as its Chief Financial Officer before being appointed to his current position on 5 December 2018. He was formerly a Partner with KPMG in Malaysia and an Executive Director with KPMG Management Consulting. He is a Chartered Accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants; a Council Member of The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants; a Chartered Islamic Finance Professional of Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals; and a Chartered Public Finance Accountant of Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy. He currently serves as the President of the Association of Islamic Banking and Financial Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM). Mr. Muazzam has over 25 years of experience in the field of finance, consulting and audit. He holds a Bachelor of Accounting from International Islamic University Malaysia and is a graduate of the Advanced Management & Leadership Programme from University of Oxford's Said Business School.
Mr. Adnan Zaylani Mohamad Zahid
Assistant Governor, BNM
Mr. Adnan Zaylani is the Assistant Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia with responsibility over the financial markets and the investment sector. Adnan started his career at the Bank as a foreign exchange trader and portfolio manager in 1994 and played key roles in managing the international reserves, the National Trust Fund and several other public sector funds. He also oversaw financial market operations and was involved in advising the government on its cashflow management and debt strategy, participating in its international Sukuk roadshows in 2015 and 2016. He became the Assistant Governor for financial markets, investment, foreign exchange administration and currency management in 2016 before furthering his studies in 2017. Upon completion of this in 2018, he took over as the Assistant Governor of the Development Sector until 31 March 2022 and is overseeing the financial markets and investment sector.
Mr. Adnan is a member of the Bank's Monetary Policy Committee and Financial Stability Committee; and the Chairman of the Financial Market Committee, which is an industry-central bank platform for the development of financial markets.
Mr. Mohamad Ali Iqbal Abdul Khalid
Director of Investment Operations & Financial Markets Department, BNM
Mr. Iqbal is the Director of Investment Operations and Financial Market Department, Bank Negara Malaysia since 2020. His current key responsibilities are managing the international reserves and overseeing the monetary and ringgit operations. As part of the function in domestic market operations, he also advises on the government's public debt management and issuance strategies. He has served Bank Negara Malaysia for the last 20 years, covering various roles and work attachments including Director in Governor's Office, Director in International Department, Deputy Director in Equity Management and Fixed Income, Chief Representative at both Bank Negara Malaysia New York and London Representative Offices.
Ms. Sylvia Wong
Head of Financial Markets, Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad
Ms. Sylvia has over 25 years of experience in the ASEAN market and is a member of Bank Negara Malaysia's Financial Markets Committee (FMC), as well as on the FMC's Islamic Market subcommittee. She is also a member of the Financial Markets Association of Malaysia (a member of ACI) at which she is the Honorary Secretary for the Association. She is responsible for the strategic development of the Standard Chartered Bank's (SCB) Financial Markets business in the region, leading an experienced sales team to advocate SCB's ASEAN franchise to corporate and institutional clients within and outside the region.
Mr. Suhaimi Ali

Mr. Suhaimi joined the Bank in 1998 after graduating from the University of Notre Dame, USA. He is currently an Assistant Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia overseeing the portfolio of financial development and innovation, Islamic finance, as well as the financial inclusion department. He has 24 years of central banking experience in various areas including regulation and supervision, strategic planning, market conduct, international negotiations, IT services and the Governor's office. Mr. Suhaimi is also a non-executive director of Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad and a member of the Board of Trustees for the International Centre for Leadership in Finance (ICLIF) Trust Fund.
Ms. Lau Chin Ching
Director, Financial Development and Innovation, BNM
Ms. Lau is the Director of the Financial Development and Innovation Department in Bank Negara Malaysia. She oversees the formulation of strategic plans and policies to advance the development of the Malaysian conventional banking, insurance and fintech sectors. These include policies and initiatives to shape the industry landscape and promote digitalisation and related infrastructure towards supporting the growth of a progressive, competitive, inclusive, resilient and responsive financial sector. The department also drives initiatives to promote greater insurance access and penetration. Prior to joining the department, Ms. Lau was a Director in the Insurance Development Department up to March 2022 and a Deputy Director in the Financial Stability Department up to March 2018. She began her career with Bank Negara Malaysia in 2003 after graduating from the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom) with a degree in Economics.
Mr. Wilson Beh
President, Fintech Association of Malaysia (FAOM)
Mr. Wilson is a founding member of the Fintech Association of Malaysia and currently serves as the President for its 2022-2023 committee. He is also the co-founder and CEO of PolicyStreet, a fintech company that makes insurance protection simple, easy and affordable. Mr. Wilson previously worked at Finnext Capital as a co-founder and director. He attended Marymount University and previously worked in a leading investment bank advising Chinese and ASEAN conglomerates in multi-billion dollar financing and cross-border transactions before venturing into fintech. Wilson is also passionate in training and developing banking and insurance professionals in fintech and entrepreneurship.
Mr. Puneet (Pasha) Pasricha

Mr. Pasha is an experienced leader in the insurance industry with more than 25 years of leadership and multifunctional experience in business management and the insurance sector. He was the CEO of Liberty Insurance Berhad and has assumed the same role in AmGeneral Insurance Berhad on 2 May 2023 following the recent merger in April 2023. As CEO, Mr. Pasha has revolutionised the insurance industry with his customer-centric approach, introducing innovative solutions and leveraging digitalisation to enhance the overall experience. Pasha is recognised globally as a thought leader in the insurance sector and is also passionate about driving positive change in society. Beyond his role in the insurance sector, he actively participates in philanthropic endeavours in support of various charitable organisations.
Dr. Saravanan Thambirajah
CEO of Federation of Malaysian Consumer Associations (FOMCA)
Dr. Saravanan is currently the CEO of the Federation of Malaysian Consumer Associations. He is a renowned consumer advocate with a strong background in law and an MBA. With a focus on fairness and consumer protection, he has dedicated his career to championing consumer rights. Dr. Saravanan's extensive experience includes spearheading initiatives to promote responsible business practices, advocating for consumer-friendly policies, and forging strategic partnerships with government agencies and industry leaders. Through his leadership, FOMCA has become a prominent voice for consumers in Malaysia, working diligently to safeguard their interests and promote economic justice.
Tan Sri Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus

Tan Sri Nor Shamsiah is the ninth Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia, assuming office on 1 July 2018. She chairs Bank Negara Malaysia's Monetary Policy Committee, the Financial Stability Committee and the Financial Stability Executive Committee. Prior to her appointment as Governor, she served as Assistant Director of the Monetary and Capital Markets Division of the International Monetary Fund.
Tan Sri Nor Shamsiah joined Bank Negara Malaysia in 1987 and has served in various areas including prudential regulations, legislation, policies and guidelines for the financial sector and supervision. She was involved in the financial sector resolution initiatives during the Asian financial crisis. She was instrumental in the formulation and implementation of the Financial Sector Masterplan (2001-2010) and Financial Sector Blueprint (2011-2020) that charted the development of the Malaysian financial system. As Deputy Governor from 2010 to 2016, She was responsible for banking, insurance and Takaful supervision, financial intelligence and enforcement, talent management, finance and shared services of the central bank. She also represented Bank Negara Malaysia in the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and the Financial Action Task Force.
Tan Sri Nor Shamsiah graduated from the University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy and is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA).
