  1. The Obverse Side of the Coin
The obverse of the coin depicts the transformation of the air wing of the RMAF. This is symbolised by the RMAF’s first aircraft, the “Twin Pioneer” and its latest acquisition, the Sukhoi Su-30MKM. The lines adjoining both aircrafts depict RMAF’s evolution over 50 years in the aviation history. The words “Ulang Tahun Ke-50 Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia” and the years “1958” and “2008” appear on the circumference of the coins signifying the achievements of RMAF.

  2. The Reverse Side of the Coin
The reverse depicts the RMAF’s insignia in the centre of the coin. The words “BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA” appear on the upper circumference, and its denomination appears on the lower circumference of the coin.
