Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) is committed to shaping the best Malaysian talents through our scholarship programme. Our scholarship holders will have access to the best learning experiences at top universities as per the BNM’s list of approved universities in the fields of Economics, Accounting and Finance, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science and Law.
Beyond just outstanding academic achievements, BNM also seeks individuals with excellent leadership qualities as well as exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Scholars will also benefit from holistic development opportunities, including regular engagement and continuous support from BNM, as well as a structured internship during summer breaks. Through this programme, BNM aims to equip scholars with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s economic and financial advancement.
BNM offers two types of scholarship programmes:
Kijang Pre-University Scholarship
Eligibility Criteria
- Excellent Academic Achievements: A minimum of 8As (A+ and A only) obtained in the recent SPM along with CEFR.
- Strong leadership qualities, proven teamwork capabilities, outstanding performance in extra-curricular activities and exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Applicant must be a Malaysian citizen and not exceeding 19 years of age on 1 July 2026.
What’s Next?
- Once awarded, scholarship recipients will begin their studies with pre‑university programmes at BNM’s approved pre-university colleges.
- The scholarship provides comprehensive support, including tuition fees, subsistence allowance and other related allowances.
- Progression to an undergraduate programme is subject to scholars meeting the requirements set by BNM under the Kijang Undergraduate Programme.
- Upon successful completion of their undergraduate studies, scholars will be required to fulfil their employment bond with BNM, based on a ratio of one year of study to two years of service.

Kijang Undergraduate Scholarship (Apply Now) 17 April - 26 April 2026
The Kijang Undergraduate Scholarship is open to eligible individuals who have received an offer to pursue or are currently undertaking undergraduate studies one of BNM's list of approved universities.
Eligibility Criteria
- Excellent Academic Achievement: Obtain a minimum qualifying result for any of the following:
- A-Level: Minimum of 3As
- STPM / Diploma / Matriculation / Foundation: Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.50
- Australian Matriculation: Minimum ATAR of 85%
- American Foundation Program: Minimum SAT score of 1,500
- International Baccalaureate (IB): 38 points
- For candidates currently enrolled in an undergraduate programme, a minimum academic standing of CGPA 3.50, Second Class Upper (2:1) or a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 75% is required.
- Additional education qualification - A minimum of 5 credits including Bahasa Melayu, English and Mathematics in SPM or other recognised secondary examinations.
- Strong leadership qualities, proven teamwork capabilities, outstanding performance in extra-curricular activities and exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Applicant must be a Malaysian citizen and not exceeding 22 years of age on 1 July 2026.
