Inaugural SEACEN-CEMLA Conference on "The Implementation of Monetary Policy: Lessons from the Crisis and Challenges for Coming Years"

The South East Asian Central Banks (SEACEN) Research and Training Centre and the Center of Latin American Monetary Studies (CEMLA) collaborated in organising the inaugural SEACEN-CEMLA Conference on "The Implementation of Monetary Policy: Lessons from the Crisis and Challenges for Coming Years" at Bank Negara Malaysia's Sasana Kijang from 13 to 15 October 2011. The Conference, which was targeted at senior officials of central banks from the Asian and Latin American regions, was hosted by Bank Negara Malaysia and co-sponsored by Banco de La Republica (Central Bank of Colombia).
The Conference presents itself as a major springboard for central banks from the Asian and Latin American regions in the promotion of cross-regional collaboration in central bank learning and networking. The Conference is an excellent platform for the strengthening of networking relationships, sharing of experiences and exchange of ideas. The theme of this year's Conference which focused on the lessons learned from the crisis and challenges in the future, was delivered by a faculty of renowned senior central bankers and international financial institutions to provide perspectives from both regions as well as internationally.
The next SEACEN-CEMLA Conference will be held in one of the member of CEMLA countries.
SEACEN, which has a membership of 17 central banks and monetary authorities, is the regional learning hub for central banks in the Asia Pacific region. SEACEN aims to build capability in central banking and foster networking and collaboration.
CEMLA, with a membership of 53 institutions is the regional association of Latin American and Caribbean central banks, promotes cooperation amongst its members to promote better knowledge of monetary and financial topics in the region.
