It has a face value of RM10. The coin is packed in a premium wooden box and is sold at RM440 per piece.

The commemorative coins for RISDA and MCDR are made of sterling silver with 92.5% purity and weigh 31 grams. Each coin has a face value of RM10 and will be sold at RM330 per piece.

The mintage quantity is 1,000 pieces for each coin design.

2. Nordic Gold Brilliant Uncirculated (B.U.) Commemorative Coin

This coin is made of copper and several other metals and weighs 8.5 grams. The coin has a face value of RM1 and will be sold at RM16.50 per piece.

Detailed specifications of these commemorative coins are set out in the Appendix .

Coin Designs

i) JKR

a) Sterling Silver Commemorative Coin (proof)

Obverse – The design concept of the coin memorialises JKR’s important role in national infrastructure development over the last 150 years. At the centre of the coin is Menara Kerja Raya, JKR’s primary office complex. The coin background features geometric patterns inspired by design elements from Menara Kerja Raya. The silhouette of a group of construction crew on the left side of the coin is symbolic of JKR’s workforce, the backbone of the implementation of development projects and maintenance of infrastructure assets.

Reverse – The name “BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA” as the issuing authority of the numismatic coins is shown on the top of the coin. The logo for JKR’s 150th anniversary is shown on the left side of the coin, while the face value of “10 RINGGIT” is depicted on the right. Repeated silhouettes of the shape of JKR’s logo are used as the background of this coin.

b) Nordic Gold Brilliant Uncirculated (B.U.) Commemorative Coin

Obverse – Menara Kerja Raya is depicted on the left side of the coin, while a collection of various other government buildings and infrastructures undertaken by JKR over the years are shown on the top right side. The bottom right side features silhouettes of a construction crew at work.

Reverse – The name “BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA” as the issuing authority of the numismatic coins is shown on the top of the coin. The logo for JKR’s 150th anniversary is shown at the centre of the coin. The coin also features geometric patterns inspired by design elements from Menara Kerja Raya. The face value of the coin – 1 RINGGIT – is shown at the bottom of the coin.

ii) RISDA

Obverse – The design concept of the coin is inspired by the critical mission of RISDA, which was established to improve the socio-economic well-being of the rubber smallholder community in Malaysia. A rubber tapper is featured prominently on the front side of the coin. The top left of the coin depicts images of the other products by the smallholder community, brought to market with RISDA’s support through RisSMart. The silhouettes of a child and a graduate on the right side of the coin signify RISDA's efforts in human capital development.

Reverse – The name “BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA” as the issuing authority of the numismatic coins is shown on the right circumference of the coin and the face value of “10 RINGGIT” for sterling silver or “1 RINGGIT” for Nordic gold. The logo for RISDA’s 50th anniversary is featured on the top of the coin and is set against the background of a stylised depiction of a rubber tree trunk.

iii) MCDR

Obverse – The design pays tribute to the enduring friendship, collaboration, and mutual respect between Malaysia and China over the past five decades. The coin design features a Malayan tiger and a giant panda, icons of both countries. They were paired side by side against an infinite loop, symbolising the long-standing and close relationship between the two countries.

Reverse – The name “BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA” as the issuing authority of the numismatic coins is shown on the right circumference of the coin, along with the face value of “10 RINGGIT” for sterling silver or “1 RINGGIT” for Nordic gold. Traditional textile motifs of songket and Chinese floral motifs are depicted on the yin-yang symbol, embodying the complementary and friendly relationship between the two countries.

All commemorative coin designs are available for sale today

These commemorative coins will be sold separately. To provide a fair opportunity for members of the public to buy these limited-edition coins, there will be a purchase limit for each design of one Set of 2, one coloured sterling silver coin (proof) and up to five Nordic gold (B.U.) coins per person.

Members of the public can place their orders at duit.bnm.gov.my from today to 5:00 a.m., Monday, 9 December 2024.

Members of the public are advised to place their orders through BNM’s online system and not with or through any other party or unauthorised ordering facility. All orders will be considered, and no preference will be given to orders based on the order date and time. In the event of oversubscription, balloting will take place.
