MyMint Art, Heritage and Innovation Residency (MAHIR) Programme
MAHIR is a six-month artist-in-residence initiative designed to support innovation, nurture creativity and strengthen Malaysia’s numismatic identity.
During the residency, selected designers will work closely with MyMint’s internal design team to explore contemporary and innovative approaches to coin design while gaining hands-on exposure to minting processes.

Programme Objectives
- Inspire innovative and contemporary approaches to coin design
- Strengthen collaboration between external designers and MyMint’s design experts
- Enrich Malaysia’s numismatic portfolio with designs that reflect cultural and historical themes

Scope of Engagement
Throughout the six-month residency, the selected designer will:
- Develop original coin design concepts aligned with BNM’s commemorative coin issuance plan
- Participate in structured mentorship sessions and collaborative workshops with MyMint’s design experts
- Conduct internal sharing sessions to present design progress, insights and learnings
- Submit a detailed final report documenting the design journey, creative process and key outcomes

Eligibility
- Open to Malaysian designers with at least eight years of relevant design experience
- Applicants must demonstrate a strong portfolio; familiarity with coin production processes is an advantage

Honorarium
- RM4,000 monthly allowance throughout the residency period
- Travel allowance
